CITYGAMES
FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS Yes, you can. Currently we have a PDA version for our business game City Team Conquest and our CityTracks game. A Windows Mobile version will also be created The Target to make sure it is suitable for a PDA.
A PDA has the advantages that it has a larger screen, a faster processor and the option of touching the screen instead of having to use keys. This will depend on the phone. You already need an advanced (and, therefore, expensive) phone to run our games. Moreover, your co-players must also have such a smart phone to be able to play a game. And don't forget, you also need a Bluetooth GPS receiver.
Nokia will be launching the first mobile phones with inbuilt GPS capability on the market as from the spring of 2007. Once sufficient players have such a GPS phone, it will become interesting for La mosca to offer games directly to this group. You will no longer have to borrow equipment.
No, the phone will continuously use the data communication connection during the game and, therefore, it is not possible to call at the same time. Moreover, the phones with which we play the games have also been secured against any other use but for the game.
Yes, we have extensively tested all kinds of GPS phones and the Globalsat BT-338 gave exceptionally good performance. The position display is extremely accurate. We tested this receiver in Antwerp, Bruges, Ghent, Hasselt, Rotterdam and Utrecht and it always provided a very good determination of the position.
Your GPS phone will wirelessly pass on your position (via Bluetooth) to the mobile phone, which will, in turn, pass the information on to our game server on the Internet through a data connection (GPRS). You will, therefore, be continuously online as a player. The game server will send the information about your position to the other participants in the game in the reverse order. All participants are, therefore, continuously connected with each other through the Net where our game server forms the central pivot.
Technically, the number has no limit. All participating teams must, however, have GSM capabilities and must also receive all the explanations about the game. This will limit the number of participants in practice to a maximum of 200 although La mosca will play a new city game with 600 participants (100 teams with 6 players) at the end of May...
Not yet, but we are currently checking whether we can develop a version of The Target for woody areas.
